Choose a city

There is no certain answer to the question "What is the best place to study in Australia". As everyone is considered as an individual person with different needs, likes and dislikes. It is said – no matter which way you head you’ll find what you’re looking for… Despite that, based on our experience, we can summarize some facts which you might find useful and which might ease your choice.

SYDNEY:

AUSSIE STUDY recommends:

Many students consider Sydney as the most attractive option for their study and living. This largest and oldest Australian city attracts many people of different nationalities and cultures every year. Sydney is famous for its great location, beautiful beaches and relaxing lifestyle. It is a pulsing cosmopolitan city that never sleeps. Numerous cultural events are taking place here. Sydney offers very good opportunities to find a job. Sydney is also an excellent starting point for your further travels.
Also due to stronger competition the school fees are generally cheaper then in other cities.

MELBOURNE:

AUSSIE STUDY recommends:

Compared to Sydney Melbourne is much quieter with more European feel to it. Nationality mix is not as diverse here as the one in Sydney. One of the typical aspects of Melbourne is changeable weather. You are better off carrying an umbrella with you in order to avoid getting wet unexpectedly. Melbourne is considered as sport capital of Australia. Several major sport events are taking place here every year (Australian Open, Melbourne Cup etc.). School fees are slightly more expensive as not as many educational providers are on the market.

GOLD COAST:

AUSSIE STUDY recommends:

Gold Coast is a popular destination with modern architecture and amazing beaches. This so called “Australian Las Vegas” is a paradise for young people who love surfing, fun and relaxing lifestyle. If you are a person who likes tropical heat with big humidity, that is a place for you to be. Gold Coast is a good destination for study especially during the summer season. In winter you may find a bit more difficult to find a job.

BRISBANE:

AUSSIE STUDY recommends:

Brisbane is the capital of Queensland and third biggest Australian city (with 2 millions inhabitants). It is a modern and cosmopolitan city. Nearby the city centre, a great artificial beach has been created for refreshment during those numerous hot days. Beautiful beaches are within a reach of few kilometers. Another big attraction – Gold Coast – is only 70 km away.Brisbane offers very good options for English study. You will have to pay more (for example in comparison with Sydney) if choosing vocational courses due to its limited range.

CAIRNS:

AUSSIE STUDY recommends:

Cairns (located in North Queensland) is famous destination for many tourists and travelers and a good starting point for undertaking trips to Great Barrier Reef and tropical rain forests. Its friendly and informal atmosphere together with the tropical climate offers a wide range of activities while you study or work. The variety of courses is slightly limited due to its smaller size. The majority of courses offered are English courses. There might be some difficulties with finding a job in off season months.

WHITSUNDAYS:

AUSSIE STUDY recommends:

One of the most beautiful places in Australia typical for its breathtaking endless beaches, luxurious resorts and great possibilities for exploring coral reefs (diving, snorkeling). Very good climate throughout all year is definitely another strong advantage. All that makes Whitsundays an excellent destination for study (especially English courses) at any time of the year.

PERTH:

AUSSIE STUDY recommends:

Perth is the capital of Western Australia. It is often compared to Sydney due to pleasant climate and similar standard of living. The life is less hectic here than in Sydney though.
Most of the schools are focused on English courses although there are several very good  alternatives for vocational or university courses as well. The living costs in Perth are lower than those in Sydney.
